Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential nominee, gave an explanation of his decision not to meet with Mrs. Beatrice Itubo, the party’s nominee for governor of Rivers State in the general election of 2023, on Saturday.

On Thursday, sources said that Nyesom Wike, the governor of the state, had extended an invitation to Obi to help open the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover in Port-Harcourt.

In the meantime, Obi declined to meet with the LP governorship candidate, citing “inadvertent oversight” and a lack of knowledge of the candidate’s health status as the reasons.

In a series of tweets on his verified account, the LP presidential candidate apologized to Mrs. Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party candidate in Rivers State, for an error.
