Atiku Abubakar, the nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party for president, was criticized on Tuesday by the former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesili, for claiming to be in charge of the Economic Management Team while serving as vice president.

On Monday, Atiku tweeted, “As head of the economic management team while I was Vice President, I played a key role in developing a private sector revitalization strategy and promoted the opening of the economy for private sector investments in a number of industries.
And we made great strides.”

Ezekwesili responded to the tweet by saying that Atiku was making a “absurd lie” and that he had never been the leader of the economic management team.

“Dear former Vice President Atiku, kindly request that the handlers of your Twitter account cease,” she tweeted.

Dear ex vice president Atiku, kindly beg the administrators of your Twitter account to quit deceiving the public, she tweeted. You never served as the team’s leader for economic management. This ridiculous lie serves you absolutely no favor. Please tell your group to cease. Happy New Year!
