President Muhammadu Buhari expressly assured Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s nominee for president, on Saturday of his unflinching commitment to seeing that he prevails in the presidential election on February 25.

As a result, the President, who serves as both the party’s leader and the chairman of the APC presidential campaign council, has reassured all party members that he will continue to push for Asiwaju Tinubu to be elected as the “next president of Nigeria.”

At the presidential campaign event in Lafia Square, the capital of Nasarawa State, President Buhari addressed a sizable crowd and endorsed Senator Shettima, Tinubu, and Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for a second term.

‘‘I congratulate and assure you that God willing we are going to win through and through. As Tinubu said in his speech, I have known him for more than 20 years, and I will continue to campaign for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is a committed Nigerian and I believe he will give all his best to Nigeria.

‘‘Also vote for Abdullahi Sule for a second and final term as governor’’ he said.

He expressed gratitude to the party’s followers for braving the heat and spending hours in the sun to show their support for the party’s candidates in the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

The APC presidential candidate praised the President earlier in his speech for supporting Nigeria and serving as the campaign’s “poster boy.”

“Nigeria is surviving as a nation,” he claimed. We would have urged you to continue because constitutional democracy dictates that you must, but you refused, saying that you were returning to Daura, your hometown.

In addition, Tinubu used the platform to chastise those who implied that he and the President had a chilly relationship, saying: “those who think there are gaps in our friendship and relationship would continue.”

Tinubu also used the forum to chide those insinuating that he is having a frosty relationship with the President, saying: “those who think there are cracks in our friendship and relationship would continue to be disappointed and have their short-term joy limited.

“Ours is not about the individual but about nation building, honesty, integrity and character,’’ he said.

‘‘We will work hard. We promise you that your children and grandchildren will have no regret about this nation and ourselves,’’ he said.

The former two-term governor of Lagos State complimented President Buhari for maintaining his concentration in the face of distractions and compared him to great and valiant leaders like Abraham Lincoln.

He vowed that thanks to the bravery and resiliency of its people, Nigeria will overcome all obstacles under his presidency.

In addition, Tinubu said that his administration would place a high priority on the development of Nigeria’s mineral resources and its agricultural sector.
