In Rivers State’s presidential vote on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu was proclaimed the victor.

When the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results from 21 of the state’s 23 local government areas earlier in the day, the Labour Party (LP) nominee, Peter Obi, had more than 23,000 more votes than Mr. Tinubu.

By that point, Mr. Obi had received 169,414 ballots while Mr. Tinubu had received 148,979.

When the results from the final two local government areas, Obio-Akpor and Degema, were in, Mr. Tinubu passed Mr. Obi.

In the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Mr. Tinubu received 80,239 ballots, Mr. Obi received 3,829, and Mr. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party received 368 votes, according to the results.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso received 161 ballots.
