Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, promised that he would begin working diligently as soon as he assumed office and that he would not let the people down.

At a speech to his supporters on Sunday in Lagos, Tinubu made this comparison between the primary and election processes he underwent and the World Cup.

The former governor of Lagos State praised God and the people for giving him the win in a statement released by his media office.

Among those who greeted Tinubu when he landed at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja’s Presidential wing were Babajide Sanwo-olu, the governor of Lagos State, Tayo Ayinde, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and other prominent figures in Lagos.

The train then proceeded to the Iga-Iduganran Palace where the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, some other traditional rulers in the state and White Cap chiefs were already waiting.

In a speech delivered in Yoruba at the palace, Tinubu said his message was one of appreciation and thanked Oba Akiolu and the state’s traditional leaders for their prayers and assistance.

The president-elect was referred to by Oba Akiolu as a unique breed “who is destined for leadership at the absolute top.”

Oba Saheed Elegushi, the Elegushi of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, and Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland, were among the other traditional leaders present at the palace.

Former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro, Muiz Banire, the All Progressives Congress Women Leader for the state, and Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas were also present at the palace.
