According to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, the population and housing census for 2023, which had been set for March 29 before, has been moved to May 2023.

At the conclusion of the Federal Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja, Lai informed State House reporters of this.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INECdecision )’s to postpone the governor and state assembly elections from March 11 to March 18 prompted the decision to move the census, the minister claims.

He also revealed that N2.8 billion had been authorised by the council for the National Population Commission (NPC) to purchase some software for the census.
