Parts of Lagos Island’s Balogun Market were damaged by fire.

The incident happened early on Tuesday. The fire’s origin and extent, however, are yet unknown.

The fire started at “32 Balogun plaza, where women’ shoe merchants located,” according to a witness.

Jubril Gawat, a media representative for the state governor, confirmed the incident and stated that “two divisions of our Lagos Fire Service are on ground already.”

According to him, firefighters from the United Bank of Africa are assisting state agents in putting out the fire.
