{"id":355,"date":"2022-07-27T22:05:15","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T21:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/postnigeria.com\/?p=355"},"modified":"2022-07-27T22:05:15","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T21:05:15","slug":"house-of-representatives-adjourns-till-september-amid-security-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/postnigeria.com\/2022\/07\/27\/house-of-representatives-adjourns-till-september-amid-security-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"House of Representatives adjourns till September amid security concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The House of Representatives has adjourned till September 20th to observe its annual long holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawmakers adjourned the House on Wednesday after the plenary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The holiday coincides with reports of a deteriorating security situation in the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be recalled that the city has witnessed a hike in attacks as terrorists attacked Kuje Prison, setting criminals and terrorists free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, the government announced the shutdown of federal government colleges in the FCT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking after the announcement of the adjournment, the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu urged his colleagues to stay away from the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to beg members, Abuja is no longer safe, please, if possible, go back to your constituency. The place is so insecure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase cautioned his colleague from making such a comment, noting that it could discourage investors from coming to Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI believe the minority leader, maybe was putting some jokes but I do not believe that it was a joke on the security in the lives and property of the people and by the grace of God Abuja is going to be secured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI do not think we should scare investors who are coming into the country, I do not believe that we should scare people who could come to add value to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives has adjourned till September 20th to observe its annual long holiday.
